Q1: What is flexible packaging?

A1: Flexible packaging is an evolutional technology using printed or non-printed flexible materials such as plastic films for food and consumer product packaging, rather than traditional materials such as glass or tin.

Q2: What kinds of substrate can be used in flexible packaging?

A2: Flexible packaging substrates can be structured from single or multi-layer films, which consist mostly of the following synthetic materials: PE (Polyethylene), PP (Polypropylene), PVC (Polyvinylchloride), PET (Polyester), Nylon, and Aluminum Foil.

Q3: Who is TPN FlexPak?

A3: TPN FlexPak is the third printing factory of Thung Hua Sinn Printing Group. Our first facility, established in 1953, Thung Hua Sinn Printing Co., Ltd. specializes in labels and other thin paper printing. The second factory, Thung Hua Sinn Printing Network Co., Ltd., concentrates on folding cartons, duplex corrugated and other thick paper printing. The latest, TPN FlexPak, opened in 1999, is dedicated to flexible packaging printing, which includes various kinds of plastic bags, pouches, plastic shrink, wrappers and labels, etc..

Q5: Who are your existing clients?

A5: TPN FlexPak functions as a packaging supplier to many multi-national companies including Johnson & Johnson, Kimberly-Clark, and Nestle. We also supply packages to many local manufacturers who export their products under various well-known brand names such as Kroger and Wal-Mart. Many of our products are also tailor-made to our customers' specification for each of their brand names.

Q6: What types of packaging is TPN FlexPak supplying to clients?

A6: Our main categories include packagings for food and for mass-consumer products. Our packagings range from printed plastic labels and shrink sleeve labels, through stand-up pouches and zipper bags for frozen food, wicket and gusset bags for bread and bakery products and retort pouches for human and pet food, to ice cream wrappers and shrink wrapping.

Q7: What makes TPN FlexPak unique among packaging printers in Thailand?

A7: As we are highly concerned about the safety of our food packaging, we use only solvent-free lamination machines and non-Toluene base ink in our flexography printing line. Thus, consumers can be assured that our finished packages are safe for packing food, and hygiene products such as diapers and sanitary napkins. In addition, our full scale printing service allows us to provide a quick response to our clients' demands for short-to-medium production runs, and is strengthened by our on-time delivery service.

Q9: Can TPN FlexPak accommodate rush jobs?

A9: Of course, since our in-house facility is well equipped with a complete workflow of packaging production from PE film co-extrusion, through laser plate-making and 10-color printing, to converting, all under one roof. We are definitely able to process any rush job our customers require. For instance, since our entire prepress production is digitally processed, the reproduction & plate making time can be reduced from the usual 7 days to be finished overnight for an extremely rushed job.

Q12: Why are packages produced by TPN FlexPak considered safe for food and good for packaging personal care and hygiene products?

A12: Since our inception, our main priority has been to focus on food packaging that is safe for consumers. Thus, our preference for using only non-Toluene base ink for our flexography printing machine, and solvent-free additives for the lamination process. Being aware of product contamination, we are also highly concerned about the cleanliness of the working area in the factory. For example, we have installed an air shower at the entrance and all employees wear hair nets while operating equipment.

Q13: How does the quality of flexography printing compare to other kinds of printing?

A13: All printing processes can provide excellent quality depending on one's needs and budget. There are both pros and cons in every printing process. Here is a comparison of different printing processes (PDF, 438K). These days, there is virtually no distinction to be perceived by the naked eye between the output of different printing processes. At TPN FlexPak, we use the most sophisticated flexography machines which give excellent printing quality equal to that of offset litho and rotogravure.

Q15: Where is TPN FlexPak located?

A15: TPN FlexPak's manufacturing site is located in the East of Bangkok, Thailand, in the Wellgrow Industrial Estate, on Km. 36 of the Bangna-Trad Highway. Our distinguished factory design which incorporates a unique egg-shaped structure, can be clearly seen from the Bangkok-Chonburi Motorway.
